About the University

Overview of NOSMA

Founded on July 10, 1939, the North Ossetian State Medical Academy was established when the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR created a medical institute in Ordzhonikidze โ€” marking a watershed moment in North Ossetian culture, education, and science.

The Academy annually trains around 3,500 students, interns, residents, graduate students, and doctors through primary specialization, retraining, and thematic improvement, making it a major academic hub in the North Caucasus.

Its structure includes seven faculties, forty departments, university clinics, a central lab, a simulation center, a modern library, and 22 computer labs โ€” ensuring world-class scientific resources for every student.

International partnerships with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and a robust research culture make NOSMA one of the most preferred MBBS destinations for Indian students in Russia.
